Why should we do surface treatment to aluminum alloy? In the real application the aluminum material will be exposed to the air for long, it will turn black after chemical reaction with other elements. The corrosion potential of aluminum is relatively negative. The surface treatment can improve the corrosion resistance, decoration and functionality of the alloy.
Anodizing
Anodizing refers to the electrochemical oxidation of metals or alloys. Under the corresponding electrolyte and specific process conditions, an oxide film is formed on the aluminum alloy surface (anode) due to the action of the applied current. Anodizing can not only solve the defects of aluminum surface hardness, wear resistance, etc., but also extend the service life of aluminum and enhance its aesthetics. It has become an indispensable part of aluminum surface treatment and is currently the most widely used.
Electrophoretic coating
The color electrophoretic coating of aluminum is a novel surface treatment process. It uses electrochemical methods to deposit colloidal particles of organic resin on the surface of the alloy to form a transparent or organic coating layer of various colors. According to the different charged conditions of the resin particles in the electrophoretic paint after ionization, it can be divided into anodic electrophoresis (resin particles become negative ions after ionization) and cathodic electrophoresis (resin particles become positive ions after ionization).
The corrosion resistance of the electrophoretic coating is extremely good (it can pass the neutral salt spray test for more than 400 hours), and the discoloration resistance is strong. It has good bonding force with base metal and can be processed by various machining. The coating layer has bright colors and can be formulated into various colors, such as gold, coffee, gun, and black. Compared with wet paint, it has better construction performance and less pollution and harm to the environment. It is mainly used in car shells and various accessories, bicycle handlebars and accessories, various daily hardware accessories, furniture, handicrafts, etc.
Powder coating
Powder coating applies the principle of electrostatic spraying to absorb dry powder paint onto aluminum profiles. After being grilled at a high temperature above 200°C, the powder solidify into a strong and bright coating layer of about 80 microns thick.
The powder-coated aluminum alloy has a smooth surface and uniform color. It has strong acid resistance, alkali resistance, impact resistance, and abrasion resistance. It can withstand strong ultraviolet radiation and acid rain for a long time without chalking, fading, falling off.
Wood grain transfer
Door & window profiles with wood grain surfaces are usually treated with wood grain transfer equipment. At a certain temperature, the ink on the transfer paper is sublimated and transferred to the aluminum alloy organic matrix coating to obtain a clear and complete pattern.
